Supported assets
You can leave comments on three types of assets inside your Projects:
- Images — Pin comments to a specific point on the image.
- Video — Comment on a specific moment in the timeline, with optional visual pinning.
- Audio — Comment on a specific moment in the timeline.
Comment on an image
Open the image
Navigate to the image inside your Project.
Click on the area you want to review
Your comment will be pinned to that exact point on the image.
Write your comment
Add your feedback. Be specific about what you are referring to.
Continue the conversation
Reply in the thread or use emoji reactions for quick acknowledgment.
Pinned comments stay attached to the exact location, so anyone reviewing the image later can see exactly what the feedback refers to.
Comment on video or audio
Open the video or audio asset
Navigate to the asset inside your Project.
Move to the moment you want to discuss
Scrub through the timeline to the exact point.
Add a comment
Your comment will be linked to that timestamp. For video, you can also pin it to a visual area at that moment.
Continue the discussion
Use replies to keep feedback grouped, or react with emoji.
Replies and reactions
Threaded replies
Every comment becomes its own thread. Replies stay grouped inside the original comment, making it easier to follow conversations and track decisions. You don't need to start a new comment to respond — just reply in the existing thread.
Emoji reactions
React to any comment with emoji for quick, lightweight feedback. Reactions are a fast way to acknowledge a comment without writing a full reply — useful for approvals, agreements, or simple acknowledgments.
Notifications
You receive notifications when:
- Someone comments on your creation
- Someone replies to a comment you added
- Someone mentions you
Notifications are delivered through the notification center in Freepik and by email.
How mentions work
Type @ in a comment to mention a teammate. Mentioned users receive a notification in the notification center and by email, so they can jump directly to the feedback that needs their attention.
Why mentions may not be available
If you type @ and mentions are not available, it could be one of these situations:
| Situation | Why mentions are unavailable | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You are on a Free or individual paid plan | Mentions require team collaboration features | Upgrade to Business |
| You are on Business or Enterprise but in a private project | Mentions only work in shared projects | Share the project with your team |
| You are in a personal project | Personal projects cannot be shared | Create a new shared project and move your assets there |
Best practices
- Be specific. Pin your comment to the exact area or moment you are referring to, so there is no ambiguity.
- Use replies to keep discussions grouped. Instead of adding a new comment, reply in the existing thread to keep context together.
- Use mentions when action is needed. Only @ a teammate when you need their input or approval — avoid mentioning everyone on every comment.
- Use reactions for lightweight feedback. A quick emoji is enough for approvals, agreements, or simple acknowledgments.
- Review from inside the project. Comments are most useful when viewed in context — open the asset inside your Project to see all pinned feedback.
